Driver CPC Frequently Asked Questions

Still unsure? Read our FAQ’s for the answers to most popular questions lorry drivers ask us about our CPC courses.

Who Needs Driver CPC Training?

Anyone who drives a vehicle over 3.5 Tonnes subject to EU Driving Hours Rules.

When must Driver CPC training be taken?

35 hours of CPC driver training has to be completed within a 5 year period. this can be taken back to back or in 7-hour chunks spread out over time.

How does Driver CPC training work?

A driver is required to complete 35-hours CPC training over a five-year period if they wish to continue driving for the next 5 years. training can be taken as 5 individual 7-hour courses spread out within the 5 years, or as 1 intense driver training week – 1 course a day for 5 days.

What is a Driver Qualification Card?

Once a driver has completed 35-hours CPC training they achieve their Driver Qualification Card. This allows them to continue driving for the next 5 years. This continuation every 5 years is often referred to as periodic CPC training.

Can you do CPC training online?

Yes, under current circumstances. This may change in the future and we will update our website accordingly when it does. But current regulations allow for online training. I would anticipate that we will be able to continue with online CPC training as well as classroom driver training going forward.

How do I get CPC certification?

The Training provider will upload each course taken to the DVSA evidencing database, on completion of the 35 hours. The DQC is then automatically sent to the Candidates home address at no further cost.

The Training provider also produces a certificate for each course completed which is finalised within 5 working days.
